Amsterdam Light Festival is back in town! | Blue Boat company

For the 6th year in a row the Amsterdam Light festival is back in town! From November 30th till Sunday January 21st Blue Boat Company invites you to experience the festival seen from the water. A guide in English and Dutch will tell you everything about the different objects.

‘Existential’
Theme of this years festival is ‘Existential’ 37 artists from different countries present their light art making us think about what unites people and what role light plays in this.

Evenings are by far the best to make this cruise, even being born and raised in Amsterdam myself I love doing these boat cruises and I already booked tickets for a nice family trip on the water. Canal Cruises are Holland's largest tourist attraction, with over 3 million visitors every year and 170 boats taking these people around.

Blue boat is located at Stadhouderskade in front of the RIjksmuseum and the Hard Rock cafe. There are different options to choose from and book your ticket immediately online.

Sofacompany.com | New in the Pijp area

A brand new showroom recently opened its doors at Stadhouderskade, close to the Albert Cuyp market and just around the corner of Van Woustraat. Online company Sofacompany.com with showrooms in Arnhem, Rotterdam, Antwerp and now Amsterdam is renowned for its high quality products and affordable Danish design.

Collections are designed by the in-house Scandinavian design team and made in own production. At the showroom you will find an extensive collection of sofa's in different shapes and colours and sizes, cozy love seats, poufs and small armchairs. In addition you will find a collection of carpets, coffee tables and some brand new graphic wall elements.

Sofacompany.com offers the ability to design your own furniture by combining the model, colour, buttons and legs. You can choose from more than 50 products in 25 different materials and colours.

Pols Potten new collection and Artwork by Anja Wijgerden (MOVED)

Pols Potten recently presented the new collection in Paris during Maison & Objet. In Amsterdam visit the location at KNSM laan, where you will find the new collection beautifully styled in the raw building.

Fashion and portrait photographer Anja Wijgerden will also expose her work at Pols Potten. Her printed pictures are scans of her original works. Both the scan and the original will be for sale as one artwork.

New colours for Sukha Amsterdam | Haarlemmerbuurt area

It is more than five years I first posted about one of Amsterdam's most iconic stores, Sukha Amsterdam at Haarlemmerstraat. The store has been bright white for some years now and recently got a makeover. At the back a nice wall partition made out of old window frames separates the atelier from the store. 

A round table, one of the latest designs by Atelier Sukha stand prominently in the room, new also is the couch shown in one of the pictures. The most important change though is the walls and floor changed from white into grey, it gives a totally new feeling to the store that you feel immediately when entering the store, go check it out!

Salamon Art & Design | A new Conceptstore with a focus on Polish design (CLOSED)

Salamon Art & Design is a concept store / art gallery space presenting today’s lively Polish art and design. The Amsterdam-based concept store features a range of Polish fashion, jewellery, homeware and furniture in their clean and white space at Rozengracht. When in Milan for designweek I spotted several of the designers that now can be found at Salomon.

The shop opened a few days ago showcasing the first collections and new designers are added every week until the official opening event on September 23. You are welcome to pop in! I was impressed by the charcoal jewellery and the different furniture and love the idea of a Polish concept store. Salomon Art & Design will also host workshops and exhibitions of Polish artists and designers.

Pluk Amsterdam opens second location | 9 streets area

At the Amsterdam Next we mostly show you those special the places where I regularly shop myself or stores that have great interiors, I am an interior design lover and blogger for nearly ten years after all, it is the niche we love to focus on and work with most! Just like everyone else I love to go out for a healthy lunch or breakfast and am a real coffee addict and because we all need a break from shopping and wandering through town, you will find a small selection of cool places where to have breakfast or lunch or a coffee in between.

 Today the second location of Pluk Amsterdam opened it's doors at the Berenstraat 19 in the 9 streets area, fun fact their first store is at the Reestraat number 19... easy right! At Pluk you can sit down for a coffee, healthy juices, a delicious breakfast, salad or sandwich or simply order for on the go.

 Besides a healthy menu Pluk has a collection of small home goods for the kitchen, candles and lots more small gifts including their own stationery collection for sale. With a few tables in the basement level and even more upstairs a great spot for a break when shopping, there is also a few cute tables in front of the store wicht you might have spotted on our AMS NXT Instagram account this afternoon. Fest Amsterdam | South | De Pijp area


FEST Amsterdam was founded in 2013 from a personal need for well designed furniture without the high-end prices. owner Femke Furnée decided to fulfil this need by designing affordable furniture and home accessories herself. FEST Amsterdam has quickly become a brand known for its Dutch design with a fresh twist and a pop of colour. When visiting the store in the Pijp area our eye caught the new collaboration with Mae Engelgeer 'Crush' consisting of a series of graphic cushions and small vases pictured below.

 With the current demand for lasting design, craftsmanship and beautiful materials and fabrics Fest hits all boxes, they follow the latest trends, but comfort, durability and timeless design always come first. In the store at the Van Woustraat a wall filled cabinet shows the smaller accessories, cushions and lamps by both Fest and different designers who collaborated with the brand.

With velvet still going strong a series of chairs in different shades of velvet and other selected Kvadrat fabric, a brand Fest is often working with, is grouped around the table. The bench, which will be available in various finishes is set for release this fall. Throughout the store you will find a selection of sofa's chairs, rugs and small tables by Fest Amsterdam.
