Winter in Amsterdam | December Christmas markets

December is here... Time to bring in the Christmas lights, lots of candles and think about a tree for the upcoming holiday season. Amsterdam is giving you tons of ideas with several Christmas markets around town over the next weekends... let me share some with you and get inspired for the best time of the year.


Lets kick off with one of my favourites, the yearly Sissy Boy market at the Amstelveld |see last years impression here| With over 40 participants this year's market will be bigger then all other years. Expect a huge styled Christmas table in the Sissy Boy Christmas tent and shop for the best Christmas presents from the different brands and Sissy Boy collections on the square, watch Christmas movies while having a glass of glühwein or hot chocolate.

The Funky Xmas market is the festive edition of the Sunday Market at Westerpark, lots of stalls to shop for your Christmas list, with handmade articles, gourmet food products, rare vintage finds, and many other unique items in a wide price range. Of course you will also find some traditional food stands with hot cocoa, crepes, meat pies, mulled wine and other delicacies.

Enjoy some warming Scandinavian hospitality and festive cheer in Amsterdam this winter as the Muider Church hosts its atmospheric Scandinavian Christmas market. Shop handmade decorations, knitwear and Scandinavian craft and design while enjoying some warming winter drinks and freshly baked food in the modern surroundings of the rebuilt Muider church in Amsterdam East.

Amsterdam winter wonderland is t taking place next to the ice rink at Museumplein, this festive village, mostly visited by tourists, will transform the square with Christmas markets, live entertainment and lots of food and drinks set against the iconic backdrop of the Rijksmuseum.
