If you are looking for a one of a kind handmade holiday gift this might be the one you are looking for. Martijn Smulders is an Amsterdam based artist who is transferring photos to wood. Travelling around Thailand some years ago he came across a piece of wood with an image printed on it.
Back in Amsterdam he started experimenting with printing machines and different techniques. After a while he got a hold of the technique and added the coating of the photo with gloss epoxy.
Nowadays he sells his work at Hutspot and Bijenkorf Amsterdam invited him to sell his work from November 26 – December 24 in a pop-up store at the Bijenkorf (4th and 5th floor) His work consists of a collection of all sorts of edible exotic fishes, but he also took inspiration from the Rijksmuseum.
